Project Runway Season Six pushed back to January

Saturday, September 6th, 2008 on SpoilerBuzz.com
timgunn.jpgIf you were hoping for the fall season start on Project Runway, the hit reality designer show that switched over from Bravo to Lifetime, you are out of luck. The new season won’t be back until January, apparently due to Lifetime not being able to get production up and running in time.

In a surprise development, Lifetime has confirmed that it won’t debut the sixth season of Project Runway until January so it has more time to promote the show that it swiped from Bravo last spring. It had been expected the show would debut on its new network sometime this autumn. “With this move, the series will resume its traditional cycle of two seasons per year,” according to a Lifetime spokeperson. “We look forward to ringing in the New Year by giving Project Runway loyal fans a superlative season six with Heidi, Tim, Nina, and Michael. The new date and time will be announced soon.”

The delay supposedly is not attributed to the nasty legal catfight going on between Bravo, NBC/Universal, and Runway’s new home on Lifetime.

The news comes as a lawsuit over the rights to Project Runway continues to wind its way through the New York courts. Bravo’s parent company, NBC/Universal, is alleging that the Weinstein Co. shopped Runway to Lifetime before giving its home network first refusal. NBC/Universal also is attempting to block Lifetime from marketing and promoting future cycles of the show.

Victoria Beckham as Project Runway Judge for season finale?

I admit, Posh has some pretty good fashion sense… or someone in her camp does! But she has also had some equally hideous fashion disasters too! But rumor has it that Victoria Beckham is set to be a judge on this season’s finale of Project Runway. It should be interesting to hear her speak candidly about fashion… unless someone in her camp is also going to be feeding her fashion lines through an earpiece!

If you have been living on another planet, you might not have known the Posh is busy touring with her fellow Spice Girls on a worldwide tour. But we also recently saw her as a Bridesmaidzilla on Ugly Betty.

Tim Gunn will be back on Project Runway next season

Fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief… Tim Gunn will be returning to the next season of Project Runway. In fact, it seems to have factored into his decision to leave Parsons and join Liz Claiborne instead.

As you remember, the next season was being filmed while Gunn was scheduled to be teaching at Parsons (his then “day job”), when the fourth season was to be filmed. The rumors began flying he wouldn’t be back. Then he signed with Bravo to produce his own show, and it began to look like the odds were against Gunn coming back.

Then last week, he announced he was leaving Parsons to join Liz Claiborne, and fans suspected it was done so he could continue on with Project Runway. And now Gunn has confirmed he will be back on Project Runway.

In an interview released today:

You have a new job at Liz Claiborne. Will you still be on Project Runway?
Yeah! That’s part of the requirement. My requirement. I said to Bill McComb, if I can’t keep doing these things that are such incredible fun for me, then I wouldn’t want to do that.

Great news for fans!

Tim Gunn’s new job might mean he’s on for Project Runways fourth season

Friday, February 2nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

There has been so much speculation about the fact Tim Gunn might not be back for a fourth season of the popular Project Runway franchise. But it appears it might have been a coverup until he announced his departure from Parsons The New School for Design, where his teaching schedule conflicted with the fourth season. He announced he is leaving the school to join Liz Claiborne Inc as chief creative officer.

I suspect we will be hearing any time now that Tim will be back on Project Runway, especially since it was stressed his new job would not conflict with the show. Wonder if Liz Claiborne has just become a major sponsor or somehow gets tied into the show now.

Tim starts work at Liz Claiborne in March.

Ugly Betty taps Project Runway’s Tim Gunn as fashion correspondent

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com
timgunn.jpgWord comes that the ever-popular Tim Gunn, made famous by his appearances on the last three seasons of Project Runway, will be appearing on Ugly Betty as a fashion consultant.

He will appear in two episodes which air during February sweeps. His episodes will air February 1 and 8. There is no word about when the episodes of the popular comedy were taped.

Gunn will appear as a fashion correspondent during Ugly Betty’s version of Fashion Week.

It is a popular show and there has been some speculation that someone from Project Runway might be appearing on Ugly Betty. And Tim Gunn is definitely the highest profile of the group, not to mention the publicity he has been getting lately with all the will-they-or-won’t-they-sign-him on Project Runway for the fourth season.

He has also recently landed his own show on Bravo, based upon the fashion book he is currently writing.

Project Runway’s Tim Gunn lands his own show on Bravo

Sunday, January 14th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com
timgunn.jpgWell, we have all heard the rumors about Tim Gunn not bring brought back for the fourth season of Project Runway. Well, it turns out Tim will have his own show on Bravo, and they both seem to be coy about saying whether or not Tim will also be back to do Project Runway as well.

The show, Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style, will show Tim has he turns a hapless fashionless guy into a stylin guy.

Using the book “Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style” (co-written with Kate Moloney) as a manual, Gunn will tutor everyday people on his style philosphy and how to “make it work” — from finding the right fit and revamping closets to proper grooming and selecting a fashion role model.

“I’m practically delirious that Bravo has given me this incredible opportunity and together, we vow to redefine ‘makeovers,’” says Gunn. “This series aims to be one-part education and two-parts fun, and you’ll see me being a fashion therapist, not a svengali.”

I suspect the success of this show will actually hinge on whether or not Tim is brought back to Project Runway. There is a lot of cross-promotion possibilities, but you also have to consider who the audience is for his new show and whether there is enough of that audience that will watch. That said, it would be a great show to put on right after Project Runway.

Tim Gunn not re-signed for fourth Project Runway?

Friday, December 8th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

People.com is reporting that popular Tim Gunn from Project Runway won’t be back for the fourth season. Rumor has it that Tim will have scheduling conflicts since they will no longer be filing at the end of Tim’s academic session… fans will remember that Tim is also an instructor at Parsons.

It seems a shame that the show’s producers won’t work around his schedule, given his popularity on the show. No word as of yet who will be replacing him, but no doubt he has tough shoes to fill, especially with his well known “Make it work” catch phrase.

Of course, the news is being spinned as that he has not yet signed on for the new season. Perhaps a little campaign to ensure there is enough fan outrage to ensure he is brought back? Many fans feel strongly that his presence is essential for the success of the show.

Others involved with Project Runway, including Nina Garcia, design guru Michael Kors and executive producer Heidi Klum are all already signed on for the fourth season.
